CNTC slams Maoist threat to Dr. SC Jamir

The Central Nagaland Tribes’ Council has condemned what it stated on Wednesday was a threat issued against the governor of Odisha Dr. SC Jamir by the outlawed CPI (Maoist). The outlaws had demanded that he quit office, the council stated in a message issued through the media on Wednesday.

Two members of the Maoist are said to have threatened to ‘blow up’ the Raj Bhavan, according to the council’s message.

The apex Naga organization stated in response that such threats against the Naga leader will not be tolerated.

“The Central Nagaland Tribes Council has vehemently condemned the recent threat meted out to Odisha Governor Dr. S.C Jamir by the outlawed CPI (Maoist) asking him to quit office. It slammed the signatories of the letter by the duo, Ravindra Verma and Mantu who also has threatened to blow up the Raj Bhavan,” the council stated.

“The CNTC said it cannot remain a mute spectator when one of its son and a leader is threatened and intimidated by such outlawed and proscribed body. Dr. SC Jamir, who was a former chief minister of Nagaland, former Lok Sabha MP, former union minister and former governor of Goa too, is a living legend and a political stalwart not only among the Nagas but among the whole nation,” the organization stated.

“Though he was attempted as many as five times on his life but by was saved on all those occasions by the Hand of Providence,” the council added.
