NSF denies reports of support to Manipur bills

The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has denied as baseless “allegations” that the organization was in support of the three bills passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly. The NSF issued a press release on Thursday calling the reports ‘baseless.’

“The office of the Naga Students' Federation is compelled to clarify on the allegation that the NSF in the NESO meeting held at Guwahati, on 17th May, 2016 is in support of the 3 bills passed by the government of Manipur. The allegation is baseless as the NESO meeting never discussed on the 3 bills and the federation in no way supports the bills which are anti-tribal,” the organization stated in the press release.

“Certain organization or individuals trying to distort the facts and twist the story according to their vested agenda will not be tolerated at all.”

“As per the NESO meeting, the memorandum to the honorable Prime Minister of India is to be submitted through the respective state governors. The memorandum is a reminder submitted to the UPA government in 2013 when Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of India. The concern of the NSF is on the continuous influx of illegal immigrants from Indian neighbouring countries,” the NSF stated.

The organization said it had been “fighting and shall continue to fight against any kind of Acts or Bills passed against the interest of the Nagas, irrespective of the artificial/arbitrary boundaries.”
