Kohima bans ad hoardings

To keep and “develop” the public areas between the Classic Island and Box Cutting junction in Kohima town, the administration of the district has banned commercial hoardings and advertisements in said areas.

The deputy commissioner of Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor, has banned the ‘installation’ of hoardings, banners, and advertisements within said areas with immediate effect. All the hoardings, advertisements and banners currently in place will be removed, the administration stated in an order that was issued on Monday.

The order also stated that the area from Classic Island till Box Cutting junction have been entrusted to Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) to take up aesthetic works. In this connection, any nongovernmental organization willing to voluntarily beautify the area ‘shall henceforth obtain a clearance certificate from the KMC.’

The administration stated further that the agency or organization in concern cannot claim ownership of said portion of land basing on this order as it was not a land allotment order.
