Drunken woman takes out Nuton Bosti’s power

An unidentified Naga woman who was allegedly in high spirits–the bottled kind–is reported to have rammed her SUV, a Mahindra, into a ring well and electrical pole at the Notun Basti junction in Dimapur on Thursday night around 10:30 pm. Witnesses said the woman was drunk-driving. Although no casualty was reported, the locality was left without electricity for hours. 

NSCN (K) cadre arrested for extortion

An NSCN (K) member was arrested in Dimapur by the troops of 32 Assam Rifles on Saturday. Reliable sources said that the arrest was made from Netaji colony in Dimapur. Reportedly the AR troops got wind of the NSCN (K) member indulging in extortion in and around the district hospital Dimapur after which, in response, surveillance was launched in the area. This ultimately led to the arrest of the NSCN (K) member on Saturday from a house in Netaji colony. He has been identified as one “sgt major” Vikuto Zhimo, aged 29. Sources said that a case has been registered at East Police Station.      

Qualification issue: Rio hearing on August 8


Member of the Lok Sabha Neiphiu Rio has been summoned to appear before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kohima on August 8, a part of the sage over college qualifications. A note from the complainants informed on Friday stated that “Mr. Neiphiu Rio along with the other accused persons have been summoned to appear before the Hon’ble (sic) Court of  CJM (sic), Kohima on 8th August, 2016.”
