Few months left for exams; no math or science teacher for Chessore

The Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA), the apex students’ organization of the Yimchungrü community has sought attention to their representation demanding immediate posting of a science and a mathematics teacher for the government high school of Chessore under Tuensang district.

The organization issued a copy of a representation addressed to the commissioner-secretary of School Education on Tuesday.

The government had then “forwarded the matter to the department” to submit a proposal for posting said teachers to the school.

The representation stated:

“However, even after expiry of month, the YAA is dismayed that the required demanded teachers are not posted in the school till date. It is to be mentioned that, with just couple of months left for exam and academic session to end, not a single portion of lesson about math and science is taught to the students as prescribed in the NBSE syllabus for current academic year whereas the schools in other parts of districts are about to complete the syllabus.”

The organization called the development “sad” as reportedly the school was located in a remote area.

‘Classes for said subjects are yet to begin as the government had neglected in deploying the required teachers timely, and the students will be compelled to sit for the board exams scheduled on the same date with the rest of the other students in Nagaland,’ the YAA stated.

“In this regard the YAA strongly reminds the concerned department that the demanded subject teachers be posted before September, 2016 and further state that if it cannot appoint the subject teachers, than the students should be exempted from appearing science and math subjects in the forthcoming board exam and their results and career should not be hampered. Failing to meet the above demands, the YAA would shut down the school and the department shall be solely held responsible for any consequences.”

The YAA also sought attention to another reminder by it for cancellation of the transfer of Apenro Khuvung, vice-principal, who was transferred from the government higher secondary school of Shamator. The transfer was random and ‘without any reliever,’ the representation stated.

“However even after three months lapse, the government had once again neglected to act upon and failed to deliver the justice to the Yimchunger students’ community. The YAA had earlier clearly stated that GHSS Shamator is the lone higher secondary school under Shamator sub-division,” the representation stated.

Shamator town is one of the educational centres for the people of the Yimchunger tribe, the YAA stated.

“The YAA is anguished that the concerned department and the government instead of deputing more faculty for uplifting the schools in the backward region, it is regrettably that many faculties are transferred out with post for the reason best known to them which can no longer be tolerated.”

The organization has urged the education authorities to either immediately cancel the transfer order of said vice-principal or deploy a reliever to the higher secondary school of Shamator before September.

“Furthermore, the YAA fervently urge the department to ban the transfer out of any teachers with post from the entire schools under Yimchunger jurisdiction. Hence, the YAA remind with humble request to your competent authority to once again intervene into the matter without further delay to avoid further complication and unwanted confusions,” the YAA added.
