KTC appeals for aid for children

The Khiamniungan Tribal Council has appealed to the department of Health & Family Welfare for aid following an unspecified “epidemic” somewhere “across the border.” A note from the council on Tuesday did not specify what epidemic it was but it is understood that it could be the recent outbreak of measles along the Indo-Myanmar border.

“With the alarming reports from all quarters the Khiamniungan Tribal Council appeals to the principal director, Health and Family Welfare to provide further directives with regard to the epidemic outbreak across the border which claimed more than 30 children’s life’s as the sources report,” a note from the council on Tuesday stated.

“In this regard the concern higher authority is requested to provide some alternative preventive measures to stay from such vulnerable epidemic out break across the border specially in the border areas of this long drawn ITC Dan to Thongsonyu village seriously,” it added.
